This is perfect Charlene! While your site was down, I kept thinking how a blog would really work this day and age, please keep pursuing this! Thank you!

The new website looks great! And I really enjoyed the interviews with Renee and Lonny- they are like long-time friends!

But what really caught my eye was the note about a new step aerobics video! That is the best news!

When is it planned to be filmed? I hope Renee will be able to join in!

Alas, I cannot do my old, tried and true Rev UP! video anymore (knees/feet/hips/you name it) but I so enjoyed Lon's snarky comments each and every time! Good to see an update on him. I've been working out to Charlene since the It Figures days waaaay back in the early 80's. Now I have a beloved library of videos and DVD's that are always guaranteed to produce results. Thanks for keeping me fit!

Charlene--I just want you to know that I started exercising "with you" back when you were on the Lifetime channel...I was overweight in high school but after watching your show, I became hooked, lost 50 pounds and have kept it off for the past 20 years! You are such an inspiration and changed my life in a tremendously positive way. I would love to meet you in person someday and it is a goal of mine to take my husband to one of your High Adventures. Thank you so much for being such a great role model!

Hi Charlene,

Just wanted to thank you for getting me started in fitness back in the 80s with your show. I was a smoker who didn't have the healthiest eating habits and your advice and workouts inspired me to quit smoking and eat better. Years later I am still a non-smoking regular exerciser and have managed to avoid the weight gain that is supposedly inevitable with age.

THANK YOU!!

Leslie

P.S. I'm really enjoying the cast "updates." You and your group always seemed so comfortable together and were "real people" that showed that we all can fit exercise into our lives!

I watched 'It figure' from time to time back in the '80 but what really impacted my life is your exercise video 'No Jump'. I have been using that tape for over a year, given by a friend who finds it no longer challenging for her. I got curious and want to know what happen to you now a day. I am glad that your are still active in the field. Thanks for the insperation.

How fun!

Super fun to catch up with some old "friends". I look forward to more.

Great site! I've been working out with you and the gang since the late '70's! Still using Series 17 and 18, but I have to say, they're getting pretty predictable! Any chance of a new television series in the future.....please! Love the interviews....please keep posting them! Thanks for almost 30 years of great workouts, great information, and lot of laughs!

I have the 2 sets from the It Figures TV series. I would get up and watch you on Lifetime. Then I bought the flex weights. Then the videos when it went off TV. I even got a Step, progressing from a step stool (and a couple Penney's catalogs before that!).

Recently, with my tapes getting worse from overuse, my husband transferred them over to a DVR and gave it to me for my birthday! As he listened to some of it--maybe he'll start doing more exercise--he was impressed to hear about transfats way back then!

What we'd like to know is...what is Xanna doing now?

Thanks, Charlene, for reaching out to your fans! Most of us still hear you encouraging us to keep going (certainly during those commercial breaks!) and are thankful for the intelligent conversation and education during the shows. I still quote you often, most regularly with, "Just tape it to your thighs!"

Take care!!!

Anonymous said...

Charlene, are you putting out more videos? I have so many of them and I love them. Also I would love to get tapes of your It figures shows. How can I go about attaining them? I would really love to have them! I worked out with you Friday. LOL

Anonymous said...

Thank you for this web site Charlene. I first "met" you on your It Figures program in the early 80's, and really enjoyed your commentary during your workouts.
Thanks for updating us on some of your "regulars" back then. Please continue with other members in future issues.
I was happy to see you now putting out some DVD's. Some of my tapes have gotten chewed up in the VCR. Are you going to be converting some of your more popular videos into DVD format? I would look forward to that, and any new DVD's you will make.
Thanks again.

Hi Charlene,
This is great! So good to hear how the gang is doing now. I've been exercising with you since the
80's. I have a nice library of your tapes, but I miss your TV program. You make exercise fun and informative.
Thanks!

Charlene, I love the blog. I started exercising with you when I was a teenager in the '80's, and you've gotten me back in shape many times since (especially after I had my kids). Thank you for the updates on Lonnie and Renee - I miss them on your more recent DVDs. Keep the interviews coming if you can, it's great catching up with people that are like old friends.

I too have exercised with you, Charlene, and your gang since the 1980s and continue to work out with you faithfully. I miss your show and am looking forward to new workouts to add to my collection (hope there is a strength one as well as an aerobic one or two). Like others before me, catching up the Lonni and Renee was great and hope to hear about other "regulars," too.

I love the new site Charlene! Still doing all the videos that I have collected over the past 20 years just about have them all. Can't wait to get the old ones on DVD. Thanks and be well.

After 20 or so years of working out to It Figures, I still enjoy the high impact and weight TV shows I taped off Lifetime. I've never found another fitness program to come close. I transferred my VHS to DVD-RAM so am set for the NEXT 20 years. Thank you Charlene, and the gang, you are the best.

I'm THRILLED to find this website! It's like finding your family again after many years. I so much enjoyed the TV show since 1981 when my youngest son was born. Thank you, thank you! It Figures was a good safe workout even when I was dx with MS. So good to hear about Lon and Renee. I remember the show where it was revealed that Lon would have a cold baked potato in his pocket for a snack! I continue to do that!

Hi: Charlene
Wonderful to hear you are still going strong as always! I started working out with you in the 70's and I still love your stuff! I must say I am in good shape even now in my late 50's, no one can guess my age. It is all about exercise, it is the fountain of youth. My favorite video now is "Home Stretch" after a long walk in the forest with my dog it is better than yoga, stretches from "tip to toe". Thanks for the years of fun and education, and as someone said in another blog, you were all like family to us and it is wonderful to hear what everyone is doing now.
In good health!

I also love this website! Would love to have updates on Eric, Jennifer, and Diane (the Brit in one of the first step tapes). Eric was one of my favorites though.
Thanks so much!

Yes, thanks for this new format. I will add my plea for a new TV show in the states! I agree with those who say there was no better exercise show than yours: motivating, informative and fun!

Hi Charlene!
Tom and Susan from Oklahoma hope to join another high adventure trip someday. I still use my videos and now my 2 little boys attempt to "dance" like mommy. They love playing with my steps and risers. Because of you, we have enjoyed many hiking and skiing trips to Banff on our own and brought family with us. We love Banff!

I am also a long time fan from the late 70's. I have the low impact vhs series which were previously available and hope that the full series will be offered in dvd. I love the iopportunity to hear about old friends Renee and Lonny. Would love to hear about AJ, Diane, Eric, Lori, Jennifer and Char.( I could not believe how well she looked after the birth of her child.) I used to tape your series and miss it terribly. After reading the other comments posted,it's apparent you have many long time followers Charlene. I would like to add my thank you as well. Your sound advice holds true to this day.

Would love to see an update! This sight is amazing, and I miss the gang more and more everytime I work out to It Figures.

Ah, it is good to be in the company of "old friends". I, too, have been exercising with "It Figures" since 1985, and am still going strong with a library of your tapes and DVDs. I love your blog and your updated website.

I took your advice years ago and moved my workouts to the great outdoors by taping the audio portion of your shows to a cassette, and now I exercise year-round outside with you and the gang. It is what gets me thru the long New England winters. More recently, my husband surprised me with an iPod onto which he had loaded the audio from some of your shows, and I am delighted!

In addition to adding my pleas to all the other fans for you to continue to make new workouts, and convert all your titles to DVD, I'd also like to ask if you to release the audio portions of your shows as MP3s so that people can take you with them wherever the go, on their iPods. I would happily buy them from iTunes if they were available, and I bet many others would do so, too.

Here's a blast from the past -- in addition to wanting future updates on all the regulars (Jennifer, Eric, Jordan, AJ, Char, Diane, Xanna, Duane, Dr. Patti, and Terry, just to name a few) whatever happened to Irene?

Keep up the great work, keep the titles coming, and stay well.

Aw it's so good to hear from Renee and Lonny. Would love to hear more from you also, Charlene!

How about regular updates on health and fitness news and tips. You were always so good at relaying that information to your audience, with you own unique and intelligent take on things.

God bless!

I had forgotten how much I loved the old gang until I caught up with them on this blog.

Can we also be looking forward to a High Adventure's blog with stories and photos from your most recent adventures? Would love to go on a High Adventure but I just can't afford it. Following along through this blog would be the perfect solution!

Charlene and Renee look great! Glad to see your fitness moves and tips have kept them in top shape over the years as well!

So excited for your new video! How about blogging the production of your newest videos to keep your fans in the loop and give them a behind the scenes view of how you put your timeless and inspiring videos together!

Keep up the hard work Char! Your fans appreciate it more than you could ever realize! And we are out here supporting you all the way!

Glad to see your fans have a place not only to interact but also to give you the praise and encouragment you deserve to keep on keepin on!

I love checking this blog every week. It's like Christmas morning, sneaking around the corner hoping to spot a present under the tree.

Thanks for all that you have given your viewers over the years!

Oh how special it is after all these years to see these friendly and familiar faces! I haven't let up for a day and will work out to whatever DVD you release next!

TKS!

I have been away from home on business for the last 7 weeks. Not much is familiar or comfortable about working and being away from those you love and recognize, but my handy and reliable Char collection has sustained me on this trip. Your videos not only grant me the exercise I need but the piece of home I crave! You have no idea what a lasting impression your videos have on your most loyal fans. Count me as cheif among them!

It was great to read the update about Diane. How I miss It Figures.

What a kick catching up with Dianne, Lonny and Renee. All of whom I enjoyed while stepping or doing Aerobics in the 80"s, 90's and still in this new Century. Thanks for the update.

Thanks, Charlene for all of the wonderful videos!
I don't know if you remember us, but my husband and I were on your one and only fitness cruise back in the early 90s. It was a lot of fun!
We went out for lunch in NYC when you were in New York and it was a rainy day, but we made the best of it!
Loved your show, and loved the cruise!

Love this website!!! Would like to see updates on all the "regulars" such as Jennifer (nicknamed Jenn-Air...because she could jump so high!).

Thanks again

programs. Your the best and

Just saw the update on Lori S. and Zanna. I enjoyed reading Lori's comments. I remember her holding up an infant's tiny Reebok sneaker and talking about her son in the beginning of one of the tv series shows. I also remember her being pregnant as well. I can't believe that her children are grown.
What can I cay about Zanna. What a beautiful woman she has become, and bears such a resemblance to her mother

LOVE the new DVD Char! Keep them coming! And the updates too!

I love this website! So glad I found it. Like so many of the others commenting here I and my husband have exercised with Charlene and the TV gang for yars...started back in 1985. Current favourites are the Low Impact Series 17 and Series 18 TV shows but my VHS tapes are getting very thin! I see the series 18 is now available on DVD - any chance we can get the previous set as well? It is great to hear about those familiar friendly faces from the shows - we spent so much time with you all it is almost like Renee, Lonny, Lori and Jennifer, together with you of course, are part of our family! keep blogging!

SO EXCITED for the Series 18 DVD. Would love to see series 17 too, or maybe even a new DVD. Thank you for all you have done and keep doing for the rest of us!

I love hearing about the "old gang." I have been exercising with you every morning since 1986. The "Crazy for Step" is my favorite. Are you doing another one anytime soon?
Thanks for all the encouragement over the years. I know I wouldn't look and feel as good as I do, if it wasn't for you & It Figures. Thank goodness for videos!

Pat said...

I love the website - I am 45 now but started It Figures in the US way back in 1986 right after college. I had a PE instructor who turned me into an aerobics nut! I loved your show the first time I saw it and even continued during my pregnancy in 1994. Unfortunately I moved right after that and stopped receiving the Lifetime channel.

I exercised on and off over the years and bought some of the low impact tapes in the late 90's but I decided to get serious again this summer. Well, my newer vcr won't play the tapes! I bought the Low Impact High Intensity dvd and it's still a challenge- but getting easier! I am sooo happy that at least one season of the low impact tv series has gone to dvd. The shorter length of time works into my day much better.

Well, I'll definitely be checking back for more dvds. and as many others have said I enjoyed your interviews with Lonny and Renee because they were on daily back when I first watched It Figures.

One last comment - I laughed so hard when I saw the title at the top of the page "Charlene says" because I have been quoting Charlene beginning with that exact phrase for years! My family and friends tease me about it still.

Best wishes! Thanks for getting me back in shape!

Charlene, when I discovered your website several months ago, I felt as though I'd found an old friend. I used to work out with you on It Figures, omg, years and years ago and taped some of your shows. It was so great to read about what you'd been up to and I'm so happy that you are doing well and staying in shape. When I saw that you liked Nike Shox, I immediately went to Finish Line and bought a pair to try. Yes, I love them as well and highly recommend them. I'm wondering when you will have that new "Step Tape" for people over 50. I still do Step a couple of times a week and it seems to beat me up a little more these days and think I need to work out a little more gently. So what's new with you? Please add some recent comments and let us know how 2009 has been for you. Would love to hear all about you.

Charlene, I began exercising and laughing with you back in the '80s. I have also practiced yoga since the '60s. My favorite 'tapes' are Homestretch, the absolutely BEST one ever! Have loaned it to PTs and to some of my yoga instructors along the way. My son finally made a DVD from it for me. I also still do your weight training and Abs tapes.
I'm 68 and am still as limber as ever. I don't do high impact aerobics anymore, just walking for me.
I miss seeing you on TV and your encouraging way!

Hi Charlene,
I started exercising with you way back in the late 70's when I had just found out I was expecting my first child. Now I know that is not recommened but I listened to your guidance and took it easy and had a very easy pregnacy, labour and delivery. I looked forward to working out with you everyday and kept it up for all the years you were on tv and was hugely disappointed when you went off the air. You were like a close friend and I have missed you and I know that I am not alone in saying that. The other day I had one of your old videos on when my daughter was over and she said "its like we have a realtive whom we haven't seen in a long time visiting in the livingroom." My children grew up listening to you as I worked out with you and they sometimes joined in. The interviews with the old cast were great. Feels like catching up with old friends. Would love to see you back on tv someday!
